My cat better fucking love me. I just spent 40 dollars on her. And this weekend I’m getting her fixed and declawed.
I don’t think I’d love someone anymore if they cut off the ends of my toes. Then made me walk on that very same weight bearing joint you just cut bone, nerves, tendons, ligaments and of course the claw, out of. And made it so I could never stretch properly again, balance correctly, climb anything, or defend myself if I got outside.
My cat just got declawed and spayed at the same time, and she just got home from her surgery. My poor baby looks so miserable and she can’t walk because of her front paws getting declawed.
How is she suppose to use the bathroom if she can’t even stand?
You probably should have thought before you cut the last bone of her toes out.. I’ll never fully understand how people can get cats declawed. Do you guys think somehow because they’re not people that getting bones amputated doesn’t hurt? Especially bones from weight bearing joints.. That they then have to walk on.. Not to mention cats need their claws and there’s really no justifiable reason to cut them off.
Good lord, all of us on tumblr should just date eachother

What situations is it okay for someone to declaw a cat? Like is there some sort of terrible paw injury that requires it?
This is relevant to my interests as a future vet. I can’t see myself declawing cats. It’s a terrible, unnecessary procedure.
Are there any other procedures I should keep my eye out for? I’m not fond of ear cropping, tail docking, debarking, and wing clipping.. Those probably go on my list of things I won’t do too.
Deformed claws/broken bones and the like are the only situations I see fit to declaw a cat. One or two toe declaws (as I’m sure you know) are common in polydactyl cats as the extra toes are often not formed correctly.
Aside from everything you’ve mentioned, all of which I fully agree with, the only other thing I can think of is convenience euthanasia. As in killing to make more room for other animals (kill shelters) or to avoid dealing with health problems.
Glad to see there’s still hope for vets out there. Nice to know some people have morals.
